Having establishing its West African lightering base in the port town of Dakar in 2013, SafeSTS now provides a ship-to-ship transfer service to a strong client base of oil and gas majors, with transfers usually taking place in the region of latitude 14˚40 ̍North/longitude 17˚20 ̍ West.

Commenting on the company’s performance in West Africa, SafeSTS Managing Director Yvonne Mason said:

“Dakar has one of the largest deep water ports off the West Africa coast, situated at the crossroads of the major sea lanes linking Europe to South America.  Its deep-draft structure and access channel allows round-the-clock access to the port. Its current infrastructure includes tanker vessel loading and unloading terminals.”

SafeSTS’s understanding of vessel dynamics, operability and logistics, all of which are underpinned with respect for the country and culture in which it works, is at the core of the company’s success from its operational locations in South America, Africa, Middle East and Asia.  All lightering operations are undertaken with strict observance of Marpol Chapter 8 and the latest ICS/OCIMF ship-to-ship transfer guidelines.

SafeSTS offers a unique skill set and experience through its Marpol compliant POACs, who have undergone training enabling them to work to the highest standards.
